Utah Filmmakers Showcase: Local Short Film Collection

Presented by Artist Foundry, Friday, August 2 The Artist Foundry presents a special evening of 7 short films by local Utah filmmakers.

FIRE TENDER, directed by Roni Jo Draper & Marissa Lila–Margo Robbins, a Yurok grandmother and knowledge keeper, works to return cultural fire practices to Yurok territory to restore the land and the people.

A CONVERSATION, directed by Phil Hessler – Ugandan born professional snowboarder, Brolin Mawejje, sits down with Academy Award-winning filmmaker, Jimmy Chin, to discuss race, diversity, and their unique career paths within the outdoor industry.

MY NAME IS ____, directed by Aria Gunter – A young closeted trans teen struggles with her identity and coming out from a black and white world that actively suppresses it.

DANCING IN DURATION: A DOCUMENTARY ABOUT ALBEIT LIMINAL, directed by Rae Luebbert – A documentary exploring the preparation, execution and reflection of a four hour durational dance performance highlighting specific dance artists in Salt Lake City, UT.

CASEY, directed by Rylee Syme – The story of two men bringing their lives together while haunted by the shadow of a former partner who went missing 5 years before.

FROM WAY UP HERE, directed by Celeste Chaney – Two women ditch a celebration of life, steal a car (and the urn), and take to the mountains for one last adventure.

4DWN, directed by Danny Schmidt – 4DWN tells the unconventional and deeply personal story of a South Dallas skatepark whose mission is to change the lives of everyone who walks through the gate.
