Big and Little Cottonwood resorts are closed to uphill traffic. Period. Do not skin or hike up. Wait until they open.
That's the safety warning from officials at Alta, Brighton, Snowbird and Solitude.
Snow-starved skiers and riders are so eager to hit the slopes they ignore safety and common sense.
"Uphill traffic would complicate" work to get the mountain ready. said Solitude's Sara Huey. In addition to there's high voltage electric."
"It's all about safety," said Snowbird's Brian Brown. "We're working in tight spaces. People need to be reminded there's no uphill traffic right now."
Alta put a ropeline at Collins today so people know there's no uphill traffic. It's just too dangerous, said Andria Huskiinson.
Brighton's Randy Doyle said, "Our mountain is currently closed to uphill traffic as we get the resort ready to open. There is just to much trouble that people can get into with so much activity going on."
