Team F.A.R.T.
Team F.A.R.T. made a big impact during the 15th Annual American Red Cross Lifeguard games held at the Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center on July 16. The Fairmont Aquatics Rescue Team, also known as F.A.R.T., includes members Max Hunter, Heather Wight, who is the team captain, Austin Summers, and Elizabeth Schooley. The group easily swam away with the victory, acquiring 471 points out of a possible 474. Fairmont’s team beat the second place finishers, Layton Surf and Swim by 20 points.
The games are held to promote water safety and to highlight the hours first responders spend training. This competition brought in 22 teams from all over the state and Wyoming to test their skills. Teams were scored on response time, physical ability, CPR/AED skills, problem solving skills, and overall ability to perform all rescues they are trained in by the American Red Cross.
