Estate Planning with Cindy M. Sadler

When it comes to estate planning, there are lots of attorneys out there who can help. But planning for your family's future is serious and shouldn't be left to just anyone. Cindy Sadler has been practicing law since 1986 and her practice focuses exclusively on estate planning, which allows her to stay up to date on current laws and issues that could impact her clients.

Legal documents can be difficult to understand and Cindy's background in speech and communication helps her to explain them to her clients in a way they can understand. One misconception most people have about estate planning is that you have to have a lot of money or property to have an estate plan. Formalizing your final wishes is just one part of planning your estate. It also covers disability and allows you to chose who will take care of you and your finances.

"Estate planning is for everyone, at all ages," Cindy says. "You've worked hard for your money; why would you want the state to decide how to distribute it after your death?"

Cindy says that younger people often overlook the necessity of a will and people who own a home or have young children should have a will in place in the event of an untimely death. For parents, this allows them to decide in advance who would care for their minor children if they died.

A typical estate plan includes a living trust, will, power of attorney and health care directive. The process is easy and includes one initial meeting to discuss the client's needs and then a follow up meeting after the legal documents have been drafted. The process usually takes about two weeks from start to finish.

"I listen to my clients and customize their plan in the most economical way possible to accomplish their needs," Cindy says.

Good estate planning also helps beneficiaries during the grieving period and helps them wrap up legal issues quickly and easily.

Cindy has started helping her client's families in a process called unbundling of legal services, which helps them administer the estate with as little or as much help as they feel they need. This is a new service that some attorneys across the country are offering to their clients. Cindy says not many attorneys offer it in Utah, which sets her apart from the competition.

Another thing that sets her apart is her flexibility. Working out of her home allows Cindy the ability to meet with clients at their convenience instead of forcing them to come during business hours. She offers a free initial consultation to determine a client's needs and to also discuss pricing. Clients interested in discussing estate planning can contact Cindy at 801-274-0062.
