Imagine if you could dress for success without breaking your budget. With Cassandra's Closet, 2261 East 3300 South, you no longer have to choose between your wardrobe and your wallet. Though the women's consignment store has been in its current location for a year and a half, it's been a staple of Salt Lake City for more than 26 years.

“We're incredibly fortunate to have so many high quality consignors with the quality of clothing that they bring to our shop to resell,” Sandi Wooley says. “Every day in here is so amazing; it's like a continual treasure hunt.”

Cassandra's Closet stocks the best in women's clothing, whether it's Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Misook and Nordstrom's or designer brands like Chanel, Dior and Prada. And while the clothes may cost only a third of the original price, they're all in new or like-new condition.

“We don't take anything that's not in good condition - we even have a lot of clothes come in with the tags still on them,” Sandi says. “All clothing must be clean and pressed and on hangers for us to accept them. We also don't take anything that's more than two years old. You can get all the current clothes for not much money.”

Sandi accepts clothing from nearly 10,000 different consignors who give their clothes to Sandi to sell and then split the proceeds 50/50. Along with her wide selection of classic women's clothing, Sandi also has a variety of jewelry on display, some even made especially for the store. Sandi has seen a lot of estate jewelry and willed jewelry come through the door recently, which means you can buy anything from 18 Karate gold pieces with real gems and diamonds to simple sterling silver necklaces for a fraction of what you'd pay anywhere else.

“In these tough economic times, we have to be more cost conscious about our dollars,” Sandi says. “By shopping here you can continue helping the economy and small businesses and you can look great doing it.”

Sandi works hard to make Cassandra's Closet a cozy environment for her customers, with cookies on the back counter and decorative plants that are so tempting, new customers often ask if they're for sale.

“No, the plants are not for sale. I get that question a lot from first time customers,” Sandi says. “It's a wonderful life. I love to shop and I love to help people find interesting, different things for their needs.”
